Physiotherapy is a drug-free treatment approach that aims to normalise the function of your body. Usually this is achieved by enhancing the body’s own healing capacity in order to treat a painful injury. This can be done with specifically tailored exercises, manual therapy (including manipulations and soft tissue mobilisations), massage and electrotherapy.
Here at Coastal Clinics all of our physiotherapists are state registered as well as members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. They are highly trained professionals and continue to update their skills with new developments within the profession.
At your first visit you will be greeted by one of our friendly admin team who will ask you to fill out a few registration forms. Then your treating physiotherapist will accompany you into a treatment room to begin a fully comprehensive assessment, designed to identify the source of your problem. This stage will involve asking many questions about how the problem started, any aggravating activities and where the pain is located exactly. Then with your help a treatment plan will be discussed and then developed to address the issues.
Please wear loose, casual clothing as your treating physiotherapist will need to observe the painful area initially. This may involve having to undress sufficiently to expose the area for treatment. For example if you have a knee problem you may like to bring a pair of shorts with you.
Also it would be helpful to bring with you any scans, letters or reports related to your injury.
